Introgroove did a 50th-anniversary post on the great Cosmo’s Factory album and it got me thinking about this song again. This song has a gospel feel with soul. It’s the closest thing to a love song that John wrote while still with Creedence Clearwater Revival.
It was the B side to “Looking Out My Back Door.” This continued the great double A sided singles that they released.
Lookin’ Out My Back Door/Long As I Can See The Light peaked at #2 in the Billboard 100 and #1 in Canada in 1970.

Another great CCR song. A difficult exercise would be to rank their singles in order of greatness- they are all great. I don’t know how I could separate them on a list.

Dig that tune and album! One of the other tracks I’ve always liked from “Cosmo’s Factory” is “Who’ll Stop the Rain.”

Oh yea… CCR was so consistent. Their singles were kinda like Beatle singles…great double A sided singles.

Damn fine song. I haven’t heard it in years. My dad had this album. John was SO good with CCR. Something magical was lost when he went solo.

What a great song. Why I love these guys . Everything works then they throw in the sax. Perfect. Does anyone sing with more passion than John?

Fogerty and Springsteen really put themselves into every song…that is the way it should be to me…
That is why I like Janis also…some people don’t but I’m more about passion and feel and less about technical.

I agree on the passion thing. So many good ones. Every time I hear Fogerty sing it brings that to mind. You can throw Otis in that group.
