Some TV Themes can be annoying but many can be very catchy. I’m listing my top 10 on two posts. There are so many that narrowing it to ten was almost impossible. I’ve stuck with older ones for the post. I left out cartoons…
5. The Courtship of Eddie’s Father -Harry Nilsson sang this one staring the one and only Bill Bixby.
4. It’s Garry Shandling’s Show – The most brilliant theme…straight to the point.
3. Munsters – Cool sixties guitar driven theme.
2. Welcome Back Kotter – John Sebastian’s song Welcome Back peaked at #1 in 1976.
1. Monkees – Whenever I hear it I’m 7 again.

Cool list! Who was it that did Garry shandling’s… Randy Newman? there were a lot of good ones in the 60s and 70s… “Happy Days” and “All in the Family” also come to mind. Too bad today’s fast-paced life and shortened programs have all but eliminated them from current TV shows.
A guy named Bill Lynch wrote and sang it…I know nothing about him…I should have expanded on it. You are right…not many from now…not like these
I was thinking Randy Newman, too. That was his singing style tho, the pitch was off.
It is his style….I looked it up today…I never heard of that guy…but that is a great theme
You’ve never heard of Randy Newman?
No of the guy that sung the song the theme. I’ve heard of Randy…. Short People was the first song I noticed of him
Gotcha.
The last Newman song I remember was the theme to Monk.
I like his style…very New Yorkish…
Great call on The Munsters! Hard to beat that theme. I foresee an-inspired by blog entry forthcoming.
Run with it! I should have expanded but my time was limited. I left off cartoons…that is a whole other universe.
The first two, “Courtship…” & “Shandling…”, I’d never heard, before.
The Munsters… When I see Herman, I see the judge in “My Cousin Vinny” (what is a ‘yout’). When I see Lily, I see the woman G. W. McLintock hired to cook for him (and the drunken staircase scene).
And, we just lost another Monkee, yesterday.
I love My Cousin Vinny…and I think of Pet Sematary also.
The Shandling theme was my most modern theme…from the 80s lol.
I know…it sucks about Peter…I’m posting one of his Monkee songs tomorrow…”For Pete’s Sake”… It’s sad to see all of these people go. The musicians I like were all from the generation before me.
When I saw Bill Bixby i thought it was the incredible hulk outro theme….always liked that one. Bit sad though
It was a bit sad I agree.
WOW! Courtship of Eddie’s Father! Forgot that theme!
Garry Shandling – hard to listen to it and not laugh! One of my favorites! Crazy!
The Munters – Man, that guitar is awesome! Fall Out Boy sampled it recently in a song about Uma Thurman.
Kotter – John Sebastian. One of my top ten, as well. Just a great song!
Monkees – don’t recall if I mentioned it on my list, but I should have! It really is a great theme and timely with the passing of Peter Tork.
Almost wish you’d have gone Top 20! LOL
I know I thought about 20 and I had cartoon themes but I didn’t include them… I wanted to because Scooby Doo would be near the top.
Thank you for giving me the idea!
Cartoon themes need their own blog. Scooby-Doo! Hong Kong Phooey! Underdog! Spiderman! There’s a list!!
Hong Kong Phooey yes… it’s been a while
BTW… one day would you mind if I reblogged your toy post? I’ve done a few toy posts myself before but you have everything in there. You said it much better than I did.
I like asking before I do that.
Not at all, my friend. Feel free to share. If you think about it, just give me a plug and maybe steer folks to my page? Maybe I’ll get a few more cool followers that way.
It’s always great to connect with others who share the same likes as you.
Well I jumped the gun…you don’t have a reblog button option on yours. Someone reblogged an early Monkees post of mine Thursday and it brought more traffic over because my blog appeared on their blog…
It’s an option in the settings if you want it. If you decide to have that one day just tell me and I’d be honored to reblog that post… your posts have detail…they are really good. I have only reblogged one blog ever…and it help them get a little traffic.
I know what you mean. It’s nice to know there are other people out there with some of the same taste…and I can talk cartoons with lol.
Let me check settings …
No hurry. I feel terrible asking you. I was thinking ….he is going to think I’m a pushy jerk lol…
Not at all – I think I fixed it. Can you check and see if the re-blog button is there? I am trying to find how to do it.
I’ll check….just a second
No not yet…Let me check and see where mine is
I found it… I’m an idiot… I was looking on the WP side….sorry man.
LOL – It’s all good!
lol… I should be able to do it tomorrow. The first part will show up in my blog with a note I’ll write and then it will say “click here to see the full post” and it should take them to you…hopefully it will get you some traffic.
Someone reblogged me in August and that helped my traffic…sometimes it does sometimes it doesnt. I appreciate you working with me….still can’t believe I didn’t see that.
I appreciate it, very much! I know you have got to have more followers than me. I will return the favor!!
I hope it helps you get more traffic…It’s hard getting people to look… I went from September 2017 to around May 2018 without any followers and 3 likes total…then slowly I started to get noticed. No problem…I think people will like the post.
