Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. This first premiered on November 20, 1973, on CBS and won an Emmy Award. Great Thanksgiving special as always with the earlier Peanuts.
The Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Peanuts specials I always looked forward to. The way their world was only for kids where grownups were heard but only as noise in the background.
It starts off with Lucy tempting Charlie Brown with that football. Just one time I wanted to see Charlie kick the football…or Lucy.
It’s Thanksgiving and Peppermint Patty invites herself and Marcie over to Charlie Brown’s house but Charlie and Sally are ready to go to their grandmothers. Charlie talks to Linus and he suggests having two Thanksgiving dinners.
The only thing Charlie can come up with is feeding his friends toast and cold cereal which does not make Peppermint Patty happy whatsoever. She lets Charlie have it really bad until Marcie reminds her that she invited herself over.
Not going to give it away for those who have not seen this wonderful holiday cartoon. The music by Vince Guaraldi is excellent and makes every Peanuts cartoon special.
No personal thoughts on this one?

I was afraid I would keep repeating myself on this one. The Christmas one will have some memories…thanks for asking Tref. I do like this one and the Christmas and Halloween episodes. Well heck…I like all the animated Peanuts and the Movies…hmmm….I need to go over the movies.

Never fear repeating yourself. There is always a new reader out there who never read the first version; and, speaking for myself who used to read and re-read the same Rolling Stone record guide over and over, it’s nice to re-familiarize with past posts.

a good one, sadly probably the last really good Peanuts TV/movie made. I have only watched this one three or four times, (the Christmas one I try to be sure to see each December… got my DVD of it ready to go) but this is still a nice tribute to the season and to Schulz’s brilliance. From what I hear it’s only going to be on Apple-TV this year which is a shame…I liked it better when a major network would broadcast these types of specials. BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family, Max!

The same to you Dave! I hope you all have a wonderful one. We were invited to my cousins house and we will go back home…cook a turkey and get ready for the weekend.

I love all the Peanuts stuff. The specials are synonymous with the holidays around our house. Already had our turkey in October, so hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving day.

The only ones who ‘get’ the kid mind are Schulz and Bill Watterson IMHO.

I should have known Calvin but I had to look Watterson up…I totally agree.

Once you see it (the little black kid — forgot his name — segregated from the others at the table) you can’t unsee it. I love that show like all of the Peanuts specials.

These Peanuts cartoons are real classics. I remember watching them as well as a kid back in Germany. I don’t recall any specials, however.

They had 3 movies during the 60s and 70s…the first two were great.

Watch the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas specials every year. Keep track of the days with my Peanuts desk and wall calendars. Peanuts has been a part of my life throughout, and always will be. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you! Sometimes I comment way too much (when I do tell me to shut the hell up! lol) but I have to tell you this…when my wife and I were dating in the late 90s we would go and buy Peanuts stuff from Flea Markets and Antique stores…we would be late on rent lol… in three years we bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff…we still have it in our basement…so yea I love The Peanuts!

We definitely have a love for Peanuts in common, Max. I have a bunch of books, not just the compilations of the comics, but some small paperbacks that were published as well over the years. My mother also bought us a bunch of annual commemorative plates over the years, and we have a collection of those we take out and display every year!

That is so awesome! Oh I know those small paperbacks…We have a few as well. At Christmas we do take all of the Christmas related things and do that. It takes me back to my childhood.

I was going to say “you also!” but you probably don’t celebrate it lol. One of my New Zealand blogger friends celebrates it…he went to college in America back in the 70s so I never know.

To be honest no. If it wasn’t for WordPress I probably wouldn’t know it was today! Though I’d have nothing against a day of eating and drinking!
