20 Famous Duos

Many times you cannot think of one person without thinking of the other. That is true for many on this list. From Lennon – McCartney to Romeo and Juliet. It was a lot of fun coming up with these famous duos. Here are a few in no order…

      2. Oh I missed the boat…but you gave me an idea… Sports duos… for some reason they didn’t enter my mind…Ali and Howard is the ultimate one. Also a little more obscure I guess but Spahn and Sain…I’ll be thinking of them all day now.

      3. Ali and Howard were great fun. I think Howard made out more by the association but it helped both…. Howard and Dandy Don…A lot of great sports ones- Chrissy and Martina. . I think one of the best is Ted and Joe- along with Larry and Magic- you can’t think of one without the other. Looking forward to your sports list!

      4. They did help each other out but yea Howard used it more. They did care about each other…I remember seeing Howard saying something and coming close to tears at an Ali tribute late in Howard’s life.

        Chrissy and Martina I haven’t thought of in a while. One more…Montana and Rice wouldn’t be bad.

      7. Bobby and LBJ.. hard to top that one. I don’t know if I mentioned the story before but in the Robert Caro book- and I saw him talking about this once- the first time they met. LBJ was the Senate Majority leader. Bobby and some guys were eating and LBJ came in- everyone jumped up- to shake LBJ’s hand- Bobby didn’t budge. It really bothered LBJ- and he would later ask Bobby “Why don’t you like me>”– but those there that day said it was like too big angry dogs crossing paths. You could just feel the tension between them and it was just the first time they had met.

      8. Thats a great story. I do need to check out a book. I love anecdotes like that. LBJ and Nixon intrest me a lot. I don’t know if it’s because of the time period or so just so many things were going on.

      10. Hans this is an odd question but is there a book on LBJ that I can so to speak…dip my toe in the water? Not part of a volume but something you can reccommend? Thats what I usually do…read something to the point and then go from there and expand.

        It’s funny though because I would not have much interest to read much on Clinton, Bush, Trump etc…

      11. The Robert Caro books 4 with one more to go- are too huge to start off on. Robert Dallak has a 2 volume that is complete- but he also has a condensed one volume on LBJ that would probably be the best place to start….. I am with you on recent presidents.

      12. Thanks Hans…I’m going to check audible first….my reading will pick up now because I’ll be going into the office. The good/bad thing is it’s only me right now in IT…I think I told you but my only co-worker to survive the layoffs tested positive for covid so I’ll be left in peace and quiet…but busy! He was at home.

        It took him 2 full weeks to get over it.

    For me one of my fav duos would be Tyler/Perry from the music world especially there output from the 70’s. What a creative run they had together.

    1. Thanks Graham! When I first started blogging I picked songs from there but I’ve never seen this section before…Sam and Dave…I can’t believe I missed some obvious… a lot of obvious ones… Hans mentioned to do it on different subjects…I might do that… music, sports, entertainment

  8. I remember being really sad when John Belushi died. The Blues Brothers was one of my favorite movies of all time. The movie critics, Siskel and Ebert used to rate movies on a scale of 1-10. That was the only movie I ever saw them give a 10.

    1. I didn’t know they gave it a 10…yea that had to be rare. I remember the day also. I was a big Animal House fan (still am) as well as the Blues Brothers.

      That first cast of SNL was something.

      2. Man that first cast took chances and were great. They may would miss at times but dam even the misses were funnier than it is now…to me. The music guests also was great.

      3. I remember Garret Morris playing a reporter and interviewing Fran Tarkenton. Tarkenton who said you could never have a black QB in the NFL because he’d end up in the parking lot with watermelon and a bucket of fried chicken! And Morris agreed! Can you imagine someone doing THAT skit today?

      4. Well 3 posts only….ONLY on Sat and Sun….sometimes on a Friday…it depends. I’m writing one right now. I’ll go down to one a day during the week soon now that I’m going back to the office
