In 1995 “Roll to Me” peaked at #10 in the Billboard 100, #5 in Canada and #22 on the UK charts. I liked the song the first time I heard it and it is incredibly catchy.
Ironically it was the bands biggest hit and they did not like the song.
From songfacts
Del Amitri toured the US when this became a hit, but they played the song reluctantly, often telling the audience that it was something they had to do. Del Amitri wasn’t able to get a foothold in the States, and this was their last hit there.
Roll to Me
Look around your world pretty baby
Is it everything you hoped it’d be
The wrong guy, the wrong situation
The right time to roll to me
Is it everything you hoped it’d be
The wrong guy, the wrong situation
The right time to roll to me
Roll to me
Look into your heart pretty baby
Is it aching with some nameless need?
Is there something wrong
And you can’t put your finger on it?
Right, then roll to me
Is it aching with some nameless need?
Is there something wrong
And you can’t put your finger on it?
Right, then roll to me
And I don’t think I have ever seen
A soul so in despair
So if you want to talk the night through
Guess who will be there?
A soul so in despair
So if you want to talk the night through
Guess who will be there?
So don’t try to deny it pretty baby
You’ve been down so long you can hardly see
When the engine’s stalled and it won’t stop raining
It’s the right time to roll to me
Roll to me
Roll to me
You’ve been down so long you can hardly see
When the engine’s stalled and it won’t stop raining
It’s the right time to roll to me
Roll to me
Roll to me
And I don’t think I have ever seen
A soul so in despair
So if you want to talk the night through
Guess who will be there?
A soul so in despair
So if you want to talk the night through
Guess who will be there?
So,
Look around your world pretty baby
Is it everything you hoped it’d be
The wrong guy, the wrong situation
The right time to roll to me
The right time to roll to me
The right time to roll to me…oooh
Look around your world pretty baby
Is it everything you hoped it’d be
The wrong guy, the wrong situation
The right time to roll to me
The right time to roll to me
The right time to roll to me…oooh
A cool 90s gem. It’s breezy Pop with just a touch of Alternative that gives it some texture. Catchy is exactly what it is.

I could listen to songs like that all day. The Rickenbacker 12 string sound going on.

Absolutely. I love the Rickenbacker in The Waiting by Tom Petty too, by the way. The intro to that song is so melodic, but it rocks too. I’m going over there to like it.

Sorry I don’t know how I missed this comment! On the top of my wish list is a 12 string Rickenbacker. I have an electric Danelectro that sounds a lot like a Rick but not the same thing. Sorry I really went off subject… That sound makes me so happy.

The Danelectro is a really nice guitar though. My husband and I have a Kay, it’s pretty old, sounds beautiful it’s worth about 200.00. I personally love it. We’ve got a B.C. Rich, it’s a pretty nice guitar–it looks better than it is; it’s not one of the really expensive ones and we’ve got a Johnson acoustic, It’s a cheap guitar but it really rings.

Some of the best sounding ones are cheaper and old…I went overboard but I have 12 guitars. My family made guitars for country stars like George Jones and a few others…Gower and Grammer guitars…I have a few of them… I have two of the acoustics and two electrics…people want crazy money for them but of course, I wouldn’t sell them.

That really cool. I don’t blame you, they’re family heirlooms meant to be passed down from one generation to the next. That’s a proud legacy.

Plus they play great…they are comparable to a Martin…but I do love guitars…each has a different sound.
