I was surfing youtube and found this odd combination of The Cure and Paul’s son James McCartney doing Hello, Goodbye. This song was on the album The Art of McCartney released in 2014. A tribute to Paul… I included the tracklist at the bottom and a couple of other songs. There were some interesting combinations.

Roger Daltrey is perfect for Helter Skelter, and Alice Cooper dis a great job on Eleanor Rigby.

wow, never heard of this album but it looks like it would be good…they got artists that would seem to fit the songs well from Billy Joel to Alice Cooper…shows how versatile a writer he was.

I’ve never seen it before…it does look interesting and I’d like to hear more. I didn’t have much info on it….it was meant to be just the top song and the article but it was pretty cool.

I’ve never heard this, but such a fun take on the Beatles classic. I love The Cure.

As stupid as this is…I always got the Cult and Cure mixed up…I guess the names…but yea I liked some of their music also.

Interesting! James is a small, blond Paul. LOL!
Ooooooo…I like Daltrey’s version MUCH better. He was built for that song.
Alice Cooper did a great take. I’m digging for the other versions, now.

Yes he is… his eyes are just like his dads
I love Rogers voice but I’ll take the Beatles version because it’s much more rawer
Good stuff and interesting choices

I caught the album version of Heart’s take and then found this:

That is really good. I saw the Foo Fighters cover this one before…it’s a fun song but not easy to cover…we did it in our teens and it was hard for us…but after working on it we did it.

Cheap Trick’s version of Jet isn’t bad.
I’m disappointed that no one chose Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey. I love that song. LOL!
I really enjoyed Heart’s Band on the Run and, The Cure’s Hello/Goodbye is really good…and I’m not all that fond of the song, in general.

LOL that would be a damn challenge because it’s pieced together…yea that would be really hard.
Hello/Goodbye is one of my least favorites of the Beatles…not at the bottom but it’s just a pleasant pop song….that should have been the B side instead of I Am The Walrus.

I’ve been all over YouTube and it suddenly occurred to me just how prolific Paul was on the radio. He, by far, had the most music on the air of all the Beatles. I just dove into With a Little Luck, Take it Away (which shows his little bass and John Heard), Coming Up… And, no one tried Silly Love Songs and Goodnight Tonight, which I love.
I love Live & Let Die but, Billy Joel…no. That hurt to listen to. Ditto Owl City. I love Yesterday but, I can’t stand Willie Nelson.

I love the Take It Away video…oh yes that is why he is the richest musician bar none. He wrote all of those also…that is another kicker.
Oh I love Willie…. I don’t smoke pot but I would with Willie

I may have to change my mind on something. I thought George was my fave Beatle. It appears to be Paul…actually. I like more of the bulk of his work. Plus, if I ever played bass, like I wanted to, I would have played it left-handed, even though I am right-handed. Why a guitar or bass feels better backwards, to me. I don’t know. I must have played an instrument left-handed in another life. Or, being my mother’s child had some influence. She was left handed and all the scissors in the house were left-handed. I can write left-handed. I’m, roughly, 25/75 ambidextrous.
You would fit in well in Austin. I had co-workers that adored him. I have never liked Willie. I can’t take his voice.

Give me Smartass Lennon. It might have been a natural for you to play left handed…there are pitchers who pitch with their right hand but bat left handed…it was just natural.
I like all of them..without one…the magic is gone…Paul did the best pop songs….George did some fantastic stuff…Lennon was just as honest as you can get…he wrote off emotion more than storytelling like Paul.
Either way Vic…they pushed each other to greater heights. Even Paul admitted in 1984 “I lost my edge…I’m too poppy….I need a push” well he wouldn’t let anyone push….Lennon was the one who could….and Lennon needed Paul to push him because Lennon was lazy….
Well there is my Beatle lecture for tonight

LOL! I certainly learn a lot from you about them, considering I didn’t grow up with any Beatles music, other than what I heard on the radio.

It’s scary on how much I read about them…its such a perfect story…how Paul and John lost their moms at a young age…if that wouldn’t have happened it may never have happened.
How they got good people to help them….Epstein who actually cared about them rather than Don Arden or someone like that…George Martin who let them be free in the studio and NOT pick a lead singer from the bunch…it’s like fate

Synchronicities. I chatter on about them all the time…ad nauseum…I know…
