Roger posted a great song for this time. As we have to stay far away from our families and each other… It’s my favorite song off of Tapestry.
Musical Musings of a Mangled Mind
Today, while thinking of songs for this part of the blog. This very important part I might say. I thought of the song “So Far Away” by Carole King from her 1971 album Tapestry. Well, in searching for the song, I also found the great lady herself, doing her bit for change. Here are her words of encouragement followed by the original version live in 1971.

Thanks for sharing this. Lovely. Nice to see her well after so many years. Voice has aged well.

I love Carole King and have for a long time. The lady is a class act.
“Tapestry” just is a timelessly beautiful album. I literally dig every song on that record!
It is also amazing to me how many songs she and Gerry Goffin wrote together. By the time “Tapestry” came out, Carole already had been a professional songwriter for more than a decade. She was like 17 years old when they started their writing partnership, which is kind of mind-boggling!

It really is mind-boggling the songs they wrote. The number of hits was incredible.
Tapestry is a really cool album.

Did you know one of the tunes Goffin and King wrote was “Don’t Bring Me Down” for The Animals? I only found out about this a couple of years ago.

I didn’t know that! It doesn’t sound like King and Goffin with that version.
