That’s an excellent resource you have arranged Max. So much information, not all that is out there is as accurate – as you know. But your post seems as balanced as possible. I find it dispels any thoughts of crew error. It is sad that the families had to live with that shame from the initial investigations. That documentary mentions that this was often the case for shipwrecks – that they were quick to blame the crew when in fact ships went down for reasons well out of their control. Keep up the great work on this subject.

Yea…they couldn’t even give an actual SOS because it went down so fast. I don’t see how people could blame the crew. I did see a few rescources that say that but no I don’t believe it. You are at the mercy of those Great Lake storms in a lot of ways…especially in those long cargo freighters. Thanks Randy…and I thank Gordon Lightfoot for making people remember.

I love the song. As big Gordon Lightfoot fans, my wife and I truly love this. We live on the St. Clair river and see these ships come by daily heading up to Lake Huron and Superior from Lake Erie. Thanks for the share.
