I first saw this on Sesame Street in the 70s. I would find it coming back to me years later.
Sometimes when I play music with the guys…I’ll suddenly break out in this song in the middle of learning something else…just have some fun. It’s one that is hard to get out of your head. I get things thrown at me but I love it.
Jim Kweskin sang the original 1971 version and it was written by Bud Luckey and Donald Hadley

Kids learned so much by watching Sesame Street, and it was fun to listen to the songs as they did. This is a earworm — or is that ear ladybug?

I know they have some of the old Sesame Street stuff out on DVD now ….I am thinking about picking it up….I want to have that stuff for when my daughter grows up

I love this song! Back in the late 1980’s, I had to tape – VHS, that is – about 12 hours of Sesame Street shows to find an episode that had this song. I learned how to play it, wrote out the lyrics and immediately added it to my repertoire. It was so much fun to play and sing! And you are the only other person I’ve ever known of who knows and loves and sings this song, too! Thanks so much for your post! You made my day!
