The Jetsons

I always liked the Jetsons and the push-button future…which some of that did come true except the flying cars and such…but we have some of the push-button technology. It was always a fun watch. Hard to believe it only ran for 3 seasons…the 1st in the sixties and the last two…two decades later in the 80s.

The Jetsons was a cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera. It aired from September 23, 1962, to March 17, 1963, then it later ran in syndication with new episodes from 1985 to 1987. When it came on it only lasted that one season. One of the reasons it was said because only three percent of American households had a color television set and the show looked flat in black and white.

The next two seasons were between 1985 and 1987. The artwork looked a little different and the plots were a little weaker. They did make a cross over movie between the Flintstones and the Jetsons called The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones in 1987.

  1. Love the Jetsons -second to The Flintstones during that era growing up. Surprised the original only one season 24 episodes. …. Whenever I think of The Jetsons a girlfriend from my younger days comes to mind. Talk about misheard lyrics- one day she asked me “Who does that song about The Jetsons? I was stumped- what? and she goes you know “Here come the Jetson’s one two three.” —- Bad Company’s Rock and Roll Fantasy……

    1. MAN… Can’t say I EVER heard that before. Whew that gave me a laugh…now I will never hear it the same again…that should be in Rock and Roll lore.

      I was shocked it only went one season…until the 80s.

  3. I resent never seeing this as a kid – I loved other hannah Barbera shows, and The Flintstones were always on UK TV, the main classic. I was aware of the show from American comics I read, but it never aired that I ever saw, not even on repeats in later decades. Still never seen it, though it’s often referenced in pop culture and it used to feature in the Universal Studios Florida Hannah Barbera show-ride that ran for many years and I enjoyed that many times over.

  6. It’s hard to say which show, between Jetsons and Flintstones, I liked better. What I loved was the gadgetry on the shows, which the Flintstones had in the form of animals but there were still gadgets.
