I did Part 1 over a year ago and it was a fun post. I’ve been meaning to do this again. I remembered some of the lyrics suggested by my friends hanspostcard and allthingsthriller on the last post…I have added those to list. Thanks to both of you.
I saw her from the corner when she turned and doubled back, And started walkin toward a coffee colored Cadillac… Chuck Berry
Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose, And nothin’ ain’t worth nothin’ but it’s free… Janis Joplin/Kris Kristofferson
And I need you more than want you, And I want you for all time… Jimmy Webb
Doesn’t have a point of view / Knows not where he’s going to / Isn’t he a bit like you and me…The Beatles
Met myself a coming county welfare line, I was feeling strung out, Hung out on the line…Creedence Clearwater Revival
And you’ve got to learn to live with what you can’t rise above…Bruce Springsteen
He’d end up blowing all his wages for the week / All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek…Kinks
Well it’s too late, tonight, To drag the past out into the light, We’re one, but we’re not the same, We get to carry each other, Carry each other…U2
You can blow out a candle but you can’t blow out a fire…Peter Gabriel
Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see…The Beatles
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola, C-O-L-A Cola…Kinks
A drunkard’s dream if I ever did see one… The Band
And the sign said, The words of the prophets, are written on the subway walls, and tenement halls… Simon and Garfunkel
I lit up from Reno, I was trailed by twenty hounds, Didn’t get to sleep that night
Till the morning came around…Grateful Dead
Lose your dreams and you. Will lose your mind…Rolling Stones
It’s a town full of losers, I’m pulling out of here to win…Bruce Springsteen
The motor cooled down, the heat went down, and that’s when I heard that highway sound…Chuck Berry
We were the first band to vomit at the bar, and find the distance to the stage too far…The Who
Those are all outstanding lines from songs. Those artists you chose all had endlessly great ones…. I don’t know how often I have thought in the past 40 years the Elvis line from “Oliver’s Army”– “And I would rather be anywhere else than here today.” —usually thought when attending some pointless meeting that drags on endlessly…

Another good line…I can relate. I look at these about the same as I do movie quotes. Something to relate to…or in Chuck Berry’s case the way he can describe something that makes me feel like I’m there.

Berry was great at that… you know for a group that is as big as they are and as popular I don’t think U2 overall is a very quotable band..

No they are not. I was going down their songs thinking I was missing something. …With Dylan and Springsteen you could fill up pages.
Off Topic Revolution in the Head. I’m at the White Album right now. Ian doesn’t seem to be a big Harrison fan. The only two songs he has really praised by him so far is Long, Long, Long and Think For Yourself…plus he doesn’t like when the Beatles turn up the distortion at all. I’m with you…I don’t agree with some of his evaluations but it is very interesting…He does shed some light on some.

One of the criticisms of the book is he wasn’t a big George fan.. While I disagree with some of his opinions I agree an interesting read and gets you thinking…

It does get you thinking. The social ramifications of The Beatles…things I never thought of. I like it…different angle and keeps it interesting.

So many memorable lines! Thanks for these. This is definitely one of my top choices too > Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose, And nothin’ ain’t worth nothin’ but it’s free

Enjoyed those! It must be a weekend morning, because I can’t think of a single good one to add to your list. The Who’s line at the end is fantastic.

Thank you. That line by Pete has stuck with me for years. It stands out…such a clever line.

Pete’s line is a nod to fans in a way, too. I like that.

That is something I admired about The Who…when they got into stadiums they complained that they were losing touch with the audience…not much they could do about it…they would have been trampled in a club…at least they acknowledged it.

Pete said something along these lines in 2015 that I remember. At the end of the Hyde Park concert, he was welcoming the fans who had traveled to London. He said, “In England, we don’t go to concerts; we congregate. We f–king congregate!’ Having traveled across the pond to get there, I really appreciated his remarks. Yes, it’s too bad they can’t actually engage in that interaction. It would be a catastrophe.

He has always been big on that and it is a great thing. You are right…it would be a catastrophe…especially in America… They got into a position where they knew it but couldn’t do anything about it. Moon was really good about it…I’ve read where he was there for the fans…would stay backstage forever signing and just talking to people.
I know you have read this…or we talked about it before but just in case you haven’t read it. This is a link where Tony Fletcher…author of Dear Boy…meets Keith as a kid….

Sorry for jumping subjects but it’s on the same line.

I look forward to seeing it! It is one of the easiest posts to do…and a great conversation starter. This and movie quotes are alot of fun putting together. When I’m running low of ideas this or movie quotes will be posted.
It’s a post that you can never run out of material…you will enjoy doing it.
You will enjoy Hanspostcard’s posts…

Absolutely!! I was going through movie stuff the other day and was almost ready to post, and then I wrote the baby blog….lol.
Looking forward to this. I was having trouble adding more than one YouTube video to the blogs. Not sure what the issue was …

The baby blog was a little more important lol.
Did it give you an error message or they just won’t display? They take a while to load but shouldn’t give you problems to take.

It depends… On some of the music blogs they don’t display the second or third links if I have them. A great example is about a year ago, I was going to post my top 25 favorite Dean Martin songs…. After about the third paste of the YouTube link, it seemed like anytime I wanted to add text or to try to paste another YouTube link it froze up and just didn’t do what it was supposed to do.
I actually felt lucky with the Robert Palmer blog because it allowed me to post all three links without messing up…

It could be your computer causing that…maybe a graphic card or memory…I’m just guessing without seeing it. When I posted those 10 youtube links it was very slow working on it.
If you can get on another computer…sign in and try the same thing and see if it happens when you paste links….or better yet…install a different browser and try…I use Chrome right now.

Nice post Max. One of my favorites has always been, “Go ask Alice, when she’s ten feet tall”.

Almost all of those are great!! So many good lines. One that jumped out at me on that list was the Janis Joplin one, because honestly not a fan of her stuff but THAT line always gets me. Great lyrics.
One that jumpsout at me everytime I play it (and there are literally thousands of good lines I could pick) is from John Mellencamp’s “Scarecrow” : “well callin’ it your job Ol’ Hoss, sure don’t make it right, but if you want me to I’ll say a prayer for your soul tonight”. Kinda does a great job of summing up morality in about 5 seconds!

Yes it does…I will store that one for the next time! People seem to really like the lines and quotes. They are fun to do.

Every one of these are timeless pieces of musical history. I can think of some U2 quotes. One of my favorites of theirs is, “You can’t even remember what I’m trying to forget.” If that doesn’t say it all, I don’t know what does. Yes, keep doing these quote things they are fun, Max.

Awesome…I will use that one next time. All the commentators are making it easier lol… Thanks Lisa…I wasn’t sure people would like it again.

Re the Kinks, Lola line, it was originally written as Coca Cola but The BBC refused to play it on the radio unless it was changed to something not commercialy available!

That doesn’t surprise me at all…now with Cherry Cola available they would have to change it again.
