  1. I’m proud (and embarrassed) to say that I’ve seen every one of these. They all remain priceless and kind of demonstrate how quality and not quantity ruled the movies only a few decades ago. Now, it seems like a movie is released every minute out of immediate gratification. You gotta revisit the classics to breathe!

    1. You could make a page out of Arthur and Caddyshack quotes alone. I tried to have a variety in there.
I agree with you completely. I want to find a few more rare ones next time but it’s hard to pass up…You want to make 14 dollars the hard way…crude yes but funny… The delivery and timing of these lines make them what they are.

  2. Arthur is a laugh riot. Most people don’t know that the movie Airplane was heavily influenced by the 1957 movie Zero Hour. In fact the producers of Airplane bought the rights to Zero Hour because they were afraid they were going to get sued.

  3. Loved Dudley Moore in Arthur! Some great lines in it – my favorite is when Hopson says “Perhaps you’d like me to come in there and wash your dick for you, you little shit!”

Airplane! & Caddyshack – the lines in these films alone can fill an entire blog!!!

Groucho – SO funny and sadly, unappreciated today!

I laughed out loud at the Barry Manilow line in Breakfast Club every time I have seen it!

    Fun stuff!!!!

    1. I had forgotten about Arthur on the other quotes posts…Arthur, Caddyshack, Airplane and any Marx Brothers movie…the quotes never end.

  4. Dudley and John Gielguid were so good together in Arthur. The movie was fun to watch and sad at the same time. Unfortunately, it is probably the best work Dudley will be remembered for in America, even though he, along with the great Peter Cook were icons already for “Beyond The Fringe” and “Not Only But Also”. Thanks for the memories.

    1. The timing of that movie is great…they did click perfectly with each other.

Peter Cook and Moore were great. Derek and Clive was also really good and the Bedazzled Movie in 1967. Sad endings for both of them. Beyond the Fringe, I need to investigate more.

  5. I’ve never seen ‘Arthur’… should probably add it to my list! Love The breakfast Club, although strangely didn’t see it in the ’80s, first saw it maybe 5 years back (now have seen it a good 10 times- the women here love it even more than I do!) . Office space on the other hand, I was on the bandwagon for really early on

    1. Yea Arthur is pretty much a quote machine…they are all over it. I would have thought you would have seen the Breakfast Club in the 80s…but…I just saw ET and Raiders of the Lost Ark in the past 10 years…so I know how you feel

  6. I’ve seen them all. Ones I vaguely remember: Arthur, Anchorman, Ofc Space. Cool Hand Luke very difficult for me to watch as I love Paul Newman and didn’t want to see him treated that way. Isn’t that the movie where the girl washes the car? Airplane and Caddyshack I’ve seen MANY MANY times and always find them hilarious. My two sons *loved* the Breakfast Club and watched it multiple times. Full Metal Jacket another tough one to watch. Is that the one with D’nofrio (sp?). Marx Brothers = Quality Comedy.

    1. Yep on Cool Hand Luke…with the girl that washes the car. I started to watch Arthur again tonight…so many one-liners… Full Metal Jacket I have to be in a mood to watch the entire movie. The first 15 minutes or so with the Drill Sgt I can watch anytime. Yes I like the Breakfast Club also
