Cream – I’m So Glad

I’m So Glad appeared on Cream’s debut album Fresh Cream. Cream covered this song and did something that other bands (looking at you Led Zeppelin) should have done. The writer of the song was Skip James an American Delta blues singer, guitarist, pianist and songwriter who was born in 1902. Cream went out of their way to make sure that Skip received royalties off of the song.

Because of Cream’s diligence, James had at least some comfort in his last days. Skip had the opportunity to see Cream perform his song on stage before he succumbed to cancer in 1969 but his widow sent a thank you letter to Jack Bruce for covering his song.

The song didn’t chart but the album did at #39 in 1968.

I’m So Glad

[Chorus:]
I’m so glad
I’m so glad
I’m glad, I’m glad, I’m glad

Don’t know what to do
Don’t know what to do
Don’t know what to do

Tired of weeping
Tired of moaning
Tired of groaning for you

[Chorus]

Tired of weeping
Tired of moaning
Tired of groaning for you

[Chorus: x8]

  1. Clapton always seemed to give the old bluesmen their due- the one area where Led Zeppelin dropped the ball was in their blatant ripping off of the originators.

  2. I didn’t recognize the title, but when I listened I remember hearing it on the classic rock station in toronto back in the 80s. Great story about how they acknowledged and credited the old writer.

    1. I fixed it…you are the only one that found that. Thanks…there is a Skip Taylor…why my mind when there I don’t know.

      1. I’m NC. We are EST for four months & EDT for eight months. Half of TN is with us. The other half is with Texas. If you were on CST, you would be two hours behind me, with me being EDT. But, early this morning, you were nearly 2am & I was nearly 3am…that puts you on the other side of the line in TN and, makes you Central Daylight Time…same as Texas.

      2. Well you learn something every day… Here is what I found but…I’ve always known it as CST…Damn I feel like an idiot.

Nashville, Davidson County, TN is located in Central Time Zone.

        Offset to GMT/UTC.
Standard time zone: UTC/GMT -6 hours (Central Standard Time)
        Daylight saving time: +1 hour
Current time zone offset: UTC/GMT -5:00 hours (Central Daylight Time)
        Time zone abbreviation: CDT

      3. Don’t feel like an idiot. This s*** is confusing as f***. Leave the got-damned clocks alone! When the sun is DIRECTLY overhead…it’s NOON. That’s it. That’s all there is. Any attempt to screw with that screws with everything on the planet & the human body.

Arizona quite participating quite a while ago. Part of Indiana quit. It’s a clusterf*** and so unnecessary.

      4. I hope the bill goes through here and we get off of it.
My dad hated it…he always muttered that it was for Doctors who played golf… lol

I’ve always heard people refer to it as CST and I never thought of investigating it.

      7. No…I’m the one that thought I was in CST… I’m still in shock a little. Even at work, I hear the Admins on the phone…we are in CST… so it was a shock.

I do the same things…I don’t make one mistake…I make many in a row usually.

      8. Well…you are CST…for four months…until your legislature inks a choice. Can you get one of them to call NC? Maybe it’s a subliminal wish by Admins to return to sanity?

LMAO! It’s the virtual version of stuttering…

      9. That is what I was going to ask you…that is what I thought… so for four months I am correct. I just hope it goes through.

        Yes!

      10. That is so confusing.
I remember the last time they messed with it…we had to patch all the computers and it was a mess.

What is wrong with just letting it be…

      11. I’m Eastern. East Coast. I’m either EST or EDT.

Technically, EST & CDT would be the same…if NC quit participating in the body clock shock nonsense.

The US is Eastern, Central, Mountain & Pacific times. You fall into the Central area.

      12. I’ve been misinformed for years and told people the wrong thing.
So now that my head has stopped spinning… in the winter are we on CST? This is like finding out Blue is really Red.

      13. It messes with my sleep in Spring. It takes me a few days to get back to normal…Fall doesn’t bother me as much.

      14. It messes with everyone. Spring is the shift forward from normal time, hence the sleep trouble (and heart attack rates go up). Autumn is the shift back to normal, hence the body’s circadian rhythm sighs in relief.

I NEVER recover. My sleep pattern stays with my circadian rhythm and I wind up one hour behind the world. Of course, I’m unemployed so…

      15. That makes sense.
Of course even if they decide yes it will take them forever in a day to go through with it.

    1. That confirms some of the things I thought were true. Really good article
If you install Windows 10 without out advanced features…it gives them authority to see everything…….then at any update, it will undo everything you said no to.

      1. I can’t believe the part about updating Win7 with updates that aren’t updates. They are installing the authorities from Win10. I’m just about ready to wipe my two PCs & this laptop to factory & stop the updates.

      2. I hate the updates to begin with. I told you about a few weeks ago. We were about 100 updates behind on our Exchange server. I have this eager guy who wanted everything updated…I warned him… well it messed up everything and we had to pay Microsoft to fix their own updates.

It seems with updates come trouble. The spying stuff just makes everything worse.

      3. I remember that. And, Microsoft made money off of the ignorance.

This leads me to, what do you think of Webroot Antivirus? I was with Avast! for years but, it got cumbersome.

      4. I’ve never tried that one before but I’ve read good things…like it is small which is a good thing.

McAfee and Norton became stupid big. They were worse than a virus. They became basically Malware.

I use AVG because I get a pro copy for free from the company.
