Sniff ‘n’ the Tears – Driver’s Seat

This song took a few listens but then I started to like it. It peaked at #15 in the Billboard 100, #17 in Canada and #42 in the UK charts. The song ended up being Sniff ‘n’ the Tears biggest hit.

Driver’s Seat

Doing all right
A little jiving on a Saturday night
And come what may
Gonna dance the day away

Jenny was sweet
She always smiled for the people she meet
On trouble and strife
She had another way of looking at life

The news is blue (The news is blue)
Had it’s own way to get to you
What can I do? (What can I do? )
When I remember my time with you

Pick up your feet
Got to move to the trick of the beat
There is no elite
Just take your place in the driver’s seat
Driver’s seat, driver’s seat, yeah
Doing all right
A little jiving on a Saturday night
And come what may
Gonna dance the day away
Driver’s seat, driver’s seat, yeah
Jenny was sweet
There is no elite
Pick up your feet, pick up, pick up
Pick up your feet, gonna dance the day away
Driver’s seat, driver’s seat, yeah
Driver’s seat, driver’s seat, yeah

  1. When this came out- I heard and loved the song and went out and bought the album. I probably haven’t listened to the album in 30 years at least. Should pull it out and give it a listen- as I recall Driver’s Seat was by far the best song on the album… There was another group at that time called [one of the worst band names ever} The Fabulous Poodles- they had a song called Mirror Star- I bought that one too- Sniff N The Tears were better I think. Mirror Star was kind of a Bad Company Shooting Star type of song-

    1. It took me a few listens…Of course I was 12 at the time but I ended up liking it alot. I haven’t heard it in years.
Now I’m going to have to look up The Fabulous Poodles…just on name alone.

      1. I will have to listen to the Mirror Stars…and the Rock N Roll Fantasy I love. I bought the single at the discount rack for a dime…best investment I made at the time.
I probably thought it was the other one…I’m much happier with the one I got.

      2. I agree The Kinks one- over Bad Company’s. Misfits was my first Kinks album. Bought it because of hearing Rock N Roll Fantasy on the Top 40..

      3. I love that album… My first new one was Give The People What They Want… I heard “Destroyer” which borrowed the melody of All Day and All of the Night… off of a college station and loved it.
