This was the B side to the Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. This was not on any Zeppelin album until The Led Zeppelin Box Set in 1992. This was always a favorite of mine of them.
The original band never did perform this song live. The Immigrant song charted (#16) but this one did not. They recorded this song around the same time as Led Zeppelin III. This album marked a change in the band’s musical direction as they started to incorporate more of a folk touch and a light and heavy style. The album led to the peak of their career in Led Zeppelin IV.
Hey Hey What Can I Do
Wanna tell you about the girl, I love
My she looks so fine
She’s the only one that I been dreamin’ of
Maybe someday she will be all mine
I wanna tell her that I love her so
I thrill with her every touch
I need to tell her
She’s the only one I really love
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won’t be true, no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said, I got a little woman and she won’t be true
On Sunday morning when we go down to church
See the menfolk standin’ in line
Don’t say they come to pray to the Lord
When my little girl, looks so fine
And in the evening when the sun is sinkin’ low
Everybody’s with the one they love
I walk the town, keep a-searchin’ all around
Lookin’ for my street corner girl
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won’t be true, no no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said, I got a little woman and she won’t be true
In the bars, with the men who play guitars
Singin’, drinkin’ and rememberin’ the times
And my little lover does the midnight shift
She ball around all the time
I guess there’s just one thing a-left for me to do
So I pack my bags and move on my way
‘Cause I got a worried mind, sharin’ what I thought was mine
Gonna leave her where the guitars play
I got a woman, she won’t be true, no no
I got a woman, wanna ball all day, yeah yeah, no no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I got a little woman and she won’t be true
Hey hey, what can I do?
Oh oh, what can I say?
Hey hey, what can I do?
Oh oh, what can I say?
Hey hey, what can I do?
Oh oh, what can I say?
Hey hey, what can I do?
Hey hey, what can I do?
I got a woman, she won’t be true
Lord, hear what I say
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
Oh oh, what can I say?
Hey hey, what can I do?
pretty good song. Strangely, I used to hear it on radio a fair bit in late-70s and ’80s, I didn’t realize it was just a B-side

It was always one of my favorites because it wasn’t wore out compared to the others… I like the 12 string sound also…

One of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs- probably because like you said it was never wore out by constant radio play.

It’s really loose and free… it doesn’t seem as structured as some of their others… or like we said…. it’s not as worn

Off topic- Paul has released a couple songs from the new album- the songs I have heard seems geared toward a younger crowd- you think he is wanting a big hit- his last #1 album in the US- was Tug Of War.. I don’t recall this much effort on recent albums.

Thanks for the info… I’ll search them down this afternoon…
That makes me nervous though… gear toward youth

This one Fuh You- is getting some attention.. they don’t seem like songs a guy in his mid 70’s would write.

I’ll look it up… when you try too hard it always shows… maybe it will surprise me

I’ll give them a shot later today… the title alone is a turn off…

Nick Lowe made an album about ten years back he was closing in on 60 at the time- it was called At My Age- and it was about- getting older etc.. a great album. There is nothing wrong with getting older. Maybe that song is just to try to appeal to the younger audience- and the rest of the album won’t be that way.. I don’t know. curious.

Growing old gracefully… also just let the album happen naturally…
I’m very curious also…

Yea and he was a really good guitar player from Southern California…He did NOT fit in with them that is for sure.
I listened to the two Paul songs. I don’t really care for Fuh You… It’s just not Paul to me… The other one I Don’t Know is alright.
My son kept going on about a 2013 Paul song called “On My Way to Work” that he really liked that he found a year or so ago. It is pretty good. I missed that one somehow.
